Young Historians Hangout: University of Ibadan
Date: October 26, 2026
Time: 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Venue: To be communicated to registered participants
The Young Historians Hangout is a campus engagement initiative of the Young Historians Initiative for Historical Education (YHIHE), designed to bring History students together to connect, share experiences, learn from one another, and explore opportunities for building meaningful careers in History.
At the University of Ibadan, the hangout will provide a space for students to have honest conversations about their experiences studying History, from why they chose the discipline to the challenges they face and what they hope to do with their degrees. Through interactive discussions and group activities, participants will have the opportunity to meet fellow History students, learn from different experiences, and reflect on their place in the discipline.
The programme will also feature a talk on Visibility for Historians, focusing on the importance of sharing their work, building professional networks, and making their knowledge and skills visible beyond the classroom. Participants will take part in a History game and friendly competition, followed by an introduction to YHIHE's programmes and support for young historians.
Through this engagement, YHIHE hopes to strengthen connections among History students, encourage them to take their professional development seriously, and help them see the possibilities available to them within the discipline of history.
The hangout is part of YHIHE's commitment to creating spaces where young historians can connect, learn, grow, and support one another.
Who can attend? History students at the University of Ibadan who want to connect with fellow students, share their experiences, and learn more about opportunities available to young historians
