Every workshop, every opportunity shared, every historian mentored — this is what YHIHE has built since January 2026.
The Young Historians Initiative for Historical Education is already dedicated to supporting undergraduate historians and recent graduates. Our progammes currently includes:
We are building a platform that strengthens research culture among young people and promotes public interest in History.

Waliyat's journey demonstrates how access to the right guidance, opportunities, and community can transform a young historian's academic and professional growth.
Although she graduated from the University of Ilorin with a degree in History and International Studies, Waliyat had limited exposure to academic opportunities such as conference presentations, abstract submissions, and research publication pathways.
Through YHIHE's first workshop, "Dear Young Historians Community", she learned the fundamentals of abstract writing, responded to a call for papers, submitted her abstract, had it accepted, and successfully presented her research at a conference.
“Being a historian, one of the best decisions I have made for my academic growth was joining The Dear Young Historians Community. This community is more than just a platform; it is purpose-driven, with a clear structure that supports learning, growth, and practical engagement in the field of history. Our first webinar, held in February, focused on abstract writing, and it greatly empowered me. With the knowledge gained, I submitted an abstract to Delta State University, Abraka, which was accepted, and I went on to present my paper successfully. It was also a proud moment for me to add another certificate to my growing list of academic achievements. I must also commend the founder of the community for the vision, dedication and consistency in creating such a valuable platform for young historians. Being part of this community has strengthened my research skills, improved my confidence, and given me the right exposure to academic opportunities. I am proud to be part of a network that is committed to nurturing and shaping the next generation of historians.”
