About this Programme
We noticed that one of the biggest barriers facing many young historians is not a lack of talent but a lack of awareness of available opportunities. Many students never hear about conferences, scholarships, fellowships, or research opportunities, and because of this, they fail to harness the few opportunities available to them.
Through this programme, we actively share opportunities with members and provide guidance on how to apply successfully.
Our goal is to ensure that young historians have access to information, support, and resources that can help them develop academically, professionally, and personally.
Impact Story
This programme is already producing measurable results.
Following our workshop on "Understanding Call for Papers for Historians and How to Write a Good Abstract," two members of the community submitted abstracts to the 7th Biennial International Conference organised by the Faculty of Arts, Delta State University, Abraka.
One participant successfully presented a paper titled "Re-archiving the Past: Digital Humanities, Memories, and Counter Narratives."
The programme has also encouraged young historians to engage with professional bodies. Through information shared within the community, one member successfully registered as a member of the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN), the country's foremost professional association for historians.
